Thursday, April 7 marks the start of the income tax return. The calendar was formalized and detailed by the Directorate General of Public Finance (DGFip) on Sunday April 3.

The deadline for declaring income in paper form is Thursday, May 19. For online declarations, additional time is granted depending on the department. Those whose numbers range from 01 to 19 have until May 24. The deadline is extended to May 31 for the departments included from 20 to 54 and finally until June 8 for those after 55 and the overseas departments.
Exemption from donations to worship increased
Among the novelties of this year, a more generous mileage scale, revalued by 10% for 2021 income. It is also possible to benefit from a tax credit in the event of subscription since May 9, 2021 to a first press subscription. . It must concern a newspaper, a publication at most quarterly or an online press service providing political and general information, for a minimum period of twelve months.

An exceptional increase in the existing tax reduction for donations to religious associations or public religious establishments is also being implemented this year. Previously up to 66%, donations made since June 2, 2021 entitle you to a tax reduction of 75% up to a ceiling of €554.
Implemented in 2021, the exemptions concerning telework are maintained this year. Sums paid by employers to offset the costs of working at home are exempt from tax up to €2.50 per day.
