A superhero team that has gained phenomenal popularity in just two films and a few appearances alongside the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy haven’t been powerful enough to face a terrible foe. Indeed the Venom symbiote has already faced them during an event unknown to fans.
Guardians of the Galaxy, better than Venom?
Next year, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 should land in our dark rooms to tell us the rest of the adventures of Star-Lord and his accomplices. After two first films as acclaimed by critics as by the public, the last part of the trilogy is inevitably expected at the turn. 32nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it will take place nine years after the second installment and four years after Avengers: Endgame.
If we do not know for the moment almost nothing of the future feature film of James Gunn, it should without too much trouble do better than the movies Venom with Tom Hardy. Despite the presence of the excellent actor in the role of Eddy Brock, these were real critical failures. That’s a shame for one of the Spider-Verse’s most beloved antagonists.
But if the Guardians of the Galaxy crush Venom in the quality of their films and the reviews received, the symbiote is much more dangerous once back in the fictional universe. Proof of this is that he managed to crush the whole team on his own during a fight that the latter is not ready to forget.
Venom, the unstoppable symbiote
In the comics, Venom has changed host, since it is no longer a question of Eddie Brock, but of Flash Thompson. In the series Guardians of the Galaxy, the latter is separated from the alien symbiote during a fight against Iron Man. Needing to find a new host to survive, Venom manages to seize a hero who is nevertheless very innocent: Groot. Trying to come and help their friend tree in the number # 22, the other Guardians of the Galaxy manage to extract the symbiote without harming it, but it does not take long to flee within their ship, to return to the charge and seize Rocket.
Things get complicated then, since Rocket is forced to attack his friends, before the symbiote is thrown again and pounces on Drax. And one thing’s for sure, this “venomous” version of the character played by Dave Bautista in the movies just might be one of the most dangerous forms of Venom. On her own, she indeed manages to get rid of Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot and Rocket, after taking on the appearance of a creature with a red and black appearance with unusual musculature. In short, everything you can expect for the famous Marvel antagonist, in an even more creepy version.
By bonding with Drax, whose superhuman abilities have earned him the nickname “The Destroyer”, Venom could have posed a significant threat to all of Marvel’s superheroes. Fortunately for the latter, the symbiote simply took advantage of the beating inflicted on the Guardians of the Galaxy to return to its home planet with their spaceship.
