It is good news for Salman Khan fans that the Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan has displaced his actor friend Shah Rukh Khan to become the top earning celebrity of 2016 in the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list with an estimated income of Rs 270.33 crore.
The other leading names in the list including the Indian Test Team skipper Virat Kholi, Indian ODI Skipper MS Dhoni and actor Akshay Kumar sequential.
How ever the Super Star Salman Khan is ranked at No. 2 in terms of fame, which is top by Indian Test Team skipper Virat Kohli.
The Forbes ranking is based on two parameters
Estimates of entertainment-related earnings and estimates fame. The period for both is October 2015 to September 2016.
The magazine assign the rise of Salman Khan to his box office hits, Salman’s strong year was led by the commercial success of the Sooraj Barjatya-directed Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in late 2015 and then Sultan in 2016.
The Forbes magazine further said Salman’s estimated total earnings constitutes 9.84 percent of the total wealth of the top Celebrities at Rs 2,745 crore for the year.
Shah Rukh Kahan listed at No.2, has reportedly earned Rs 221.75 core and also comes at No 3 in terms of fame. Shah Rukh lost his place at the top in what was a mixed year for him both in terms of box office success and brands endorsed.
When it comes to fame ranking, Test Cricket Skipper Virat Kohli is the most popular celebrity and this has improved his earning rank to No 3 with a report Rs 134.44 crore earning. In the 2015 Virat was ranked No 7.
Akshay Kumar also moved up to No 4 on the list with an estimated earnings of Rs 203.03 crore driven by the success of his click ‘Airlift’, ‘Rustom’ and ‘House full 3’, besides from growing support.
MS Dhoni with an estimated earnings of Rs 122.48 crore and fame ranking of 4, his fame shot up this year because of a biopic on him, taking him the 5th position overall in this year.
The Forbes magazine chief executvie Joy Chakraborthy said that the fifth list is based on evaluation of the talent across the entire entertainment world including idols from the Bollywood to sports world.
“Movies and sports are very big business and this year’s list is also enough evidence of the enormous influence of Bollywood and cricket in the country.” said by Magazine Editor Sourav Majumdar.
