Snapchat is in the news in India for all the wrong reasons. #UninstallSnapchat is trending enormous and clearly Google Play Store rating for the application have fallen.
The reason is a former Snapchat representative has claimed that the online networking organization’s CEO Evan Spiegel was unengaged to grow the business to “poor nations” like India. American news site Variety cited the ex-employee, Anthony Pompliano, as saying that Spiegel revealed to him that the famous application is “just for rich people”, which has prompted serious reaction in India.
“The application is just for rich people. I would prefer not to expand into poor nations like India and Spain,” Mr Spiegel reportedly told Mr Pompliano.
This one comment had the whole nation seething as ardent Snapchat users began deleting the application and soon we have the hashtag #boycottsnapchat trending.
While we have the ordinary people deleting the application, even our celebs aren’t a long ways behind. Bollywood celebs too have not taken the comment in a positive light and have responded over it. here are the their tweets below.
Snapchat has rubbished the allegations, as indicated by different reports.
“The straightforward reality is that he (Mr Pompliano) knows nothing about Snap’s present metric,” the company’s lawyers responded, as per Variety.
Snapchat may not be as big as Facebook or WhatsApp in India, yet is very well known. As per a few media reports, Snapchat’s user based in India is around 4 million. As of now, Snapchat is under colossal weight to ad lib as its few famous elements are being ripped off by long range social networking gaints– Facebook and Instagram.
